GeigerBTC Driving Growth 2.0 Conference

January 23rd 2020.

GeigerBTC held their annual conference at the Novotel Hotel at Heathrow. Attending for the first time were the Pink Team from our York office and the newly acquired Orange Team from our North London office. 

A very informative morning was had by all, hearing presentations from Heads of Departments and Business Units, who reviewed the past year and identified their goals for 2020. 

This was followed after lunch by a productive brainstorming session where staff shared thoughts and ideas on how to improve the business. All ideas were recorded, ready to be implemented or explored further. 

The day closed with a supplier ‘speed-dating’ session, an excellent opportunity for all teams to meet over ten suppliers and see some new and exciting promotional merchandise ideas for the year ahead. The teams were very pleased to see many more options in sustainable, biodegradable, recyclable and reusable branded products as well as great initiatives in eco packaging.

Mad About Merchandise!

On February 6th 2020, GeigerBTC held its inaugural showcase ‘Mad About Merchandise’ at The Athenaeum Hotel, a beautiful venue in the heart of Mayfair.

With a major focus on eco, sixteen suppliers exhibited their ranges across a wide range of promotional product categories including drinkware, tech and stationery. We also had dedicated confectionery and clothing zones.

Over 120 professionals from the marketing and events world enjoyed the opportunity to discover new and exciting merchandise ideas for their future events and campaigns, and see first-hand how the products could help their brands stand out.

All attendees were delighted with their goody bag which included tech, drinkware, stationery and confectionery gifts, giving them plenty of ideas to take back to their office.

Paul Beirne, Sales Director at GeigerBTC said: “We wanted to give promotional merchandise buyers the chance to see lots of promotional merchandise ideas under one roof and I am delighted that the showcase was well attended by our clients and potential clients. The commitment and enthusiasm of our suppliers and staff all led to creating a great showcase environment for our guests.”

Geiger Announces Its First Acquisition of 2020

London, UK January 8th 2020: UK Distributor GeigerBTC, a subsidiary of Geiger, a multi-generational family-owned and operated company in the US, announced that the Berkshire based distributor, Lancewich, is joining Geiger as part of their continued expansion strategy to support clients in the UK and across Europe.

Lancewich, a highly respected name within the industry for more than 30 years had been seeking an ongoing solution to providing its many significant multinational clients with a continued high level of service.

GeigerBTC made the acquisition as part of their ongoing strategy to support the needs of global customers in North America, Europe and worldwide.

Sustainable Promotional Technology

The rapidly growing trend for promotional products to be more sustainable is spreading throughout our industry, with products like reusable bottles, stationery and even confectionery climbing to the top of the eco-friendly merchandise list.
Here we will focus on how this trend is affecting the world of gadgets and technology. Products such as charging cables, power banks and wireless speakers are now some of the most used and kept items in the branded merchandise sector, delivering brand awareness for months and even years for marketers, but can they be eco-friendly?
Many technology items require a mix of lithium batteries, wires, chips and other internal components which are hard to recycle and dispose of. However, there is a growing trend to change the outer case materials these types of products are made from, and to find different and more sustainable materials that can be easily recycled at the end of the products life. Let’s explore some of these now.
Switching a products case material from plastic to bamboo or FSC managed wood sources helps with the biodegradable properties and also makes for a very soft and desirable finish. Other natural materials finding favour are cork, leather, eco fabric, and of course paper and wood composites.
A growing trend and one to watch is promotional products made from recycled plastic, which are often PET bottles cleared from the sea, representing a better solution for our environment. Other materials, such as recycled metals and regrind silicone, also offer safe and sustainable options.
Choosing materials that break down sooner over time is also a good option, and now we are seeing major companies in the USA  producing bio-additives (e.g. BioSphere) which dramatically speed up the degrading process of plastic from 100 years to 3-5 years.

GeigerBTC Opens Distribution Centre in Rotterdam

GeigerBTC Opens Distribution Centre in RotterdamFollowing recent global contract wins, GeigerBTC has opened a Distribution Centre and office in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Ideally located for goods arriving from all points of the compass, the DC will act as a hub for deliveries throughout Europe and the Middle East. The office will also serve as a central point for customs clearance. The location inside the European Union simplifies compliance with value-added tax requirements for EU customers outside the UK, according to Geiger.

Frank Murphy, Managing Director of GeigerBTC said “Having our own Distribution Centre, and office in Rotterdam enables us to further improve services to our many clients with operations in EMEA. This also protects our clients and us from any potential consequences of Brexit, if and when it happens.”

Nicole comes with a wealth of experience within the Marketing and Advertising sector and brings over six years experience in the promotional merchandise industry, having developed strong working relationships client side and overseen the implementation of many new client programmes.  Nicole will focus on growth as the business continues to make waves in the market through the provision of exceptional service, delivered by some of the best people working within the industry.
