Geiger Green Live – Highlights

Last week we hosted Geiger Green Live, the UK’s biggest trade show for eco and sustainable merchandise, at the Kia Oval in London.

Over 250 people attended on the day, including many of our top suppliers and representatives from some of the world’s biggest brands. We had an exciting itinerary throughout the day, including guest speakers from Sedex, TerraCycle, and our very own Procurement Director, Steve Wickham.

Our attendees saw thousands of new and trending eco products and marketing ideas.

Geiger awarded PLATINUM rating from EcoVadis!

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded platinum rating from EcoVadis in our 2022 sustainability assessment and we are now among the top 1% of more than 90,000 companies rated worldwide by EcoVadis.

EcoVadis is the leading collaborative platform for sharing sustainability data between businesses and the world’s most trusted provider for assessing corporate performance in the field of sustainable development.

The assessment itself covers four pillars: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. To receive the very highest rating of Platinum, companies need to score above 75% overall across all pillars. We scored 78% in our overall 2022 assessment.

We are leaders in our sector of providing branded merchandise solutions, and this award and recognition reaffirms that we are leading the way with our environmental and social goals.

Procurement Director, Steve Wickham comments “We are so proud to receive a Platinum rating from EcoVadis in our 2022 assessment which recognises our dedication and commitment on sustainability. We know there is still work to do to get to where we want to be in 2025 and 2030 but this amazing result shows that our sustainability journey is definitely on the right path.”

Welcome to the team, Joe!

Geiger is delighted to announce that Joe Clayton has joined our team as Sales Coordinator.

Joe says: “I am thrilled to be working with Geiger UK. I have had 14 years’ experience working in a variety of business sectors and am excited to now become part of the world of merchandise. I am eager to work alongside Geiger’s amazing clients and suppliers, and look forward to being part of the wonderful Geiger UK family here in Hayes”.

New sales office in Germany

We have opened a new sales office in Dusseldorf, Germany to work in coordination with our German distribution facility in nearby Nettetal. This office is part of our overall strategic plan for global expansion to better serve our customers’ international shipping and distribution needs.

Jo-an Lantz, Geiger CEO and President, stated, “I am so pleased we are expanding our services to clients in Germany. Clients require global capabilities coupled with local support and this new office is part of our continued global growth strategy.”

“Germany is an important market for our clients,” stated Chris McKee, Geiger Senior Vice President and CRO. “Adding this sales office in Dusseldorf to our local distribution centre and online platform will streamline their efforts throughout Europe.”

In addition to the new sales office, Renate Schmid will be joining Geiger as Account Director for Germany to manage our clients in the region. She has an impressive background in client service, with over 14 years spent working in the merchandise and print management industry.

“We are delighted to welcome Renate to our European team and support the growth of this new era for Geiger in Germany,” commented Vicky Kinasz, Managing Director of Geiger’s UK division. “She brings a wealth of experience in merchandise and management of global accounts, and I look forward to working closely with her”.

Geiger welcomes four new employees!

Geiger is continuing to expand, and our teams are growing! We are delighted to welcome four new employees who have joined the company this month.

With our production team getting busier by the day, we welcome Production Coordinators’ Radhika Chagane and Charlie Lambe to the team.

Joining our Sales and Marketing teams, we are pleased to welcome Kayleigh Ennis, Marketing Executive, and Manni Virdee, Sales Coordinator.

We are thrilled to have these four new starters on board, and we know they are going to make a great addition to the Geiger family!

Geiger Makes Commitments to Sustainability and Social Responsibility

We are proud to announce that Geiger has joined the United Nations Global Compact and has been awarded a gold medal from EcoVadis during a recent sustainability assessment, placing us in the top 5% of all companies assessed.

The UN Global Compact aims to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and protect the planet. Participating organisations commit to doing business responsibly and to discovering opportunities to innovate and solve societal and global challenges. Over 10,000 companies have joined the UN Global Compact since it was launched in 2000.

EcoVadis assesses businesses on the quality of their sustainability practices, intensively rating environmental, social and ethical performance. The mission of EcoVadis is to provide an impartial standard to recognise the accomplishments of sustainable businesses and inform the decision-making of prospective clients. As of 2020, they have assessed the performance and practices of more than 75,000 companies.

Geiger joined the EcoVadis program in 2019 and was awarded a silver medal. Following our assessment in March of 2021 we have been awarded for the first time the prestigious gold medal – the result of several months of targeted work by the Geiger team looking at improving working practices across key areas including Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

According to Vicky Kinasz, Managing Director of Geiger’s UK-based team, “The evidence submitted each year must show implemented processes and demonstrated results. I am very proud of the team and of how we have worked to improve our operations in these areas since the start.” In addition, Vicky said “The EcoVadis process has been very good at highlighting improvement areas to focus on and helping to put in place real, tangible actions that make a difference.”

“The combination of being a signatory to the UN Global Compact and the gold level achievement with EcoVadis represents our ongoing commitment to sustainability and social responsibility,” states Chris McKee, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We look forward to continuing to support and invest in efforts such as these on behalf of our clients, associates, and communities.”

GeigerBTC Announces Leadership Change

 Vicky Kinasz - New Managing Director of GeigerBTC

London, UK April 16th 2020: UK Distributor GeigerBTC, a subsidiary of Geiger, a multi-generational family owned and managed company, announced that Vicky Kinasz will join the company as Managing Director, replacing Frank Murphy who will be retiring at the end of May 2020.

Frank was a Founding Partner of BTC Group, which Geiger acquired in April 2018. Frank states, “Following a very successful two-year transition period I am looking forward to a new and exciting stage in my life, albeit one curtailed somewhat by the current Coronavirus crisis. I cannot speak more highly of the care and consideration Geiger has shown to me during this transition period. While I am saddened to leave behind an amazing team of colleagues, many of whom I have known for more than 25+ years, I could not be more delighted to hand the reins over to Vicky Kinasz. I know she will lead GeigerBTC on to even greater things.”

Vicky Kinasz joins the firm as an entrepreneurial senior professional with an outstanding track record of success in commercial operations, management and sales. “I am delighted to be joining the team at GeigerBTC,” says Kinasz. “I have spent over 20 years in the promotions industry, and to have the opportunity to join a world class organisation with such an incredible culture and heritage is truly the most exciting opportunity of my career. I very much look forward to meeting in the near future with all our clients, partners and suppliers.”

Her experience as a Managing Director, as well as with promotional products, sales promotion agencies, and consumer brands make her uniquely qualified. He has been the lifeblood of the organization for over 40 years. We wish him the very best in his retirement.”

GeigerBTC Driving Growth 2.0 Conference

January 23rd 2020.

GeigerBTC held their annual conference at the Novotel Hotel at Heathrow. Attending for the first time were the Pink Team from our York office and the newly acquired Orange Team from our North London office. 

A very informative morning was had by all, hearing presentations from Heads of Departments and Business Units, who reviewed the past year and identified their goals for 2020. 

This was followed after lunch by a productive brainstorming session where staff shared thoughts and ideas on how to improve the business. All ideas were recorded, ready to be implemented or explored further. 

The day closed with a supplier ‘speed-dating’ session, an excellent opportunity for all teams to meet over ten suppliers and see some new and exciting promotional merchandise ideas for the year ahead. The teams were very pleased to see many more options in sustainable, biodegradable, recyclable and reusable branded products as well as great initiatives in eco packaging.
